4/17/25- Ariana Pupo Rodriguez continues on her fantastic winning streak having now place 2nd in the Amigos for Kids 'No Excuse For Child Abuse Poster Contest". You're making your art teacher Mr. David look awesome! 4/15/25- Congratulations to Ariana Pupo-Rodriguez in 5th grade for her amazing achievements in April, so far! She has won both the Food and Nutrition Departments Black History Month Contest, and the Youth Crime Watch Poster Contest. Ariana is going to be one of the most accomplished artists to ever pass through Everglades K-8 Center! 4/15/25- Congratulations to Evelyn Margesson and Angie Abreu for having their art work accepted to the Haitian Art Exhibit! Fantastic. 4/4/25- Today was the awards breakfast for the Smile America Dental Poster Contest at Dennys! Ariana Pupo-Rodriguez and Angie Abreu bother received prizes. There was plenty of food, coffee and lots of prizes. Mrs Riera was even present to honor our wonderful artists! Congratulations!

3/5/25- Congratulations to Evelyn Margesson, 7th grade, Alice Nodarse, 8th grade and Angie Abreu, 4th grade on having their work accepted into the Visual Puns Exhibition at Miami International Airport. Traveler will be able to view their unique and humorous images as they get ready to depart! 3/7/25- Wonderful news, Ariana Pupo-Rodriguez and Angie Abreu have earned awards in this year's Smile America Dental Association Poster Contest. Ariana won 1st place in the 5th Grade division and Angie won 2nd place in the 4th Grade division. They now get to have breakfast at Denny's for the award ceremony with Principal Riera! 3/10/25- After years of planning and hard work, select students created a masterpiece for this year's Channel 10 Earth Day Contest. I am happy to announce that our piece has made the top ten in the judging! Now it comes down to the online vote which will run until April 6, 2025. You can vote once a day, every day, until the deadline! The prize is $4500 for the art program. Let's all vote and tell our friends! Local 10′s eARTday Art Contest: Vote for your favorite piece now through Apr. 6 3/13/25- Ariana Pupo-Rodriguez, 5th Grade, and Evelyn Margesson, 7th Grade, were on hand for the Impressions in Watercolor Exhibition in Wynwood. It was a wonderful event! Congratulations! 3/31/25- Congratulation to Ashley Cruz in 3rd Grade, her artwork was selected to the Art Abilities Show at the Mailman Center for Childhood Development. There will be a wonderful event to celebrate the opening on May 8th from 5:30-7:30pm. Her picture entitled "Food Fight" received an outstanding 4 points from the judges!
2/21/25- Congratulations to Emely Alfonso and Zoey Perez whose work was accepted to the Countywide Exhibition. Emely made a wonderful landscape, and Zoey created a beautiful mixed media jellyfish. Great work. 2/13/25- Congratulations to Evelyn Margesson, 7th grade and Ariana Pupo-Rodriguez, 5th grade; both made it to the Annual Impressions in Watercolor Show. This is a very prestigious show, and it is an honor just to have your work accepted to it!
1/17/25- Although November and December were not filled with much news for the art program, January has started out with an explosion of good tidings. Ariana Pupo-Rodriguez, 5th Grade, and Evelyn Margesson, 7th Grade both won 2nd place in their categories in the Baynanza Sticker and Poster Contest. Baynanza is a yearly event that celebrate our beautiful Biscayne Bay. An event will take place in February in which Evelyn and Ariana will be honored and awarded their prizes. Additionally, Evelyn Margesson had her wonderful collage image accepted to the Black History Month Exhibition at the School Board Building located downtown. Congratulations Evelyn, you're really having a great year! Furthermore, 5th Graders and Middle Schoolers worked together to create wonderful banners for the SECME Competition. The banner competition is part of a school wide effort to participate in the District SECME Festival and Olympiad which celebrates Science, Engineering, Chemistry and Mathematics. Mrs. Botana and Mrs. Kramer work very hard to get out school ready for the event. Thank you to Ariana Pupo-Rodriguez, Emely Alfonso, Ariella Puron, Zoe Perez, Luciana Chavez-Torres, Leah Acosta, Leonor Jimenez and Helen Aguilar for their amazing effort in creating the banners. 1/21/25-EvelynMargesson, 7th Grade, is having a great January. She has won Third Place in the Pincrest Garden Environmental Art Contest. This year's theme was to depict a local person who has contributed to the improvement of South Florida. Evelyn's picture represents the contribution of Nick Katz who helped create a skate board park in Miami.
10/25/24- Fifth Grader Ariana Pupo-Rodriguez has done it again! She is the winner of the "Attendance Matters" poster contest. Amazing, two wins in one month! I am very proud of her! 10/20/24- Ariana Pupo-Rodriguez, 5th Grade has been announced as one of the winners and finalist of the 2024 Values Matter Poster Contest. This year was the 10th anniversary of the educational movement, and the posters had to reflect the celebration of this wonderful event. Ariana will be receiving a prize later this year!
8/115/24- Welcome back everyone and get ready to make some great artwork! We are looking forward towards another great year of accomplishments, awards, fun and beautiful pictures. Last year was a great year; we won lots of contests and had many students receive awards and shows and exhibitions! I am certain that 2024-2025 will be just as amazing. Students remember to bring your materials and be ready to work on day one! Welcome back everyone!
6/4/24- We are not done yet! Just coming in at the finish line is Veronica Moriyon with a terrific honor. She has won 2nd place in the "Kids Tag Art" competition! This contest was for students to design a license plate for the state of Florida. Veronica received a great prize bag delivered by our very own Art Supervisor Mabel Morales. The school will also be receiving $1,000.00 in art supplies of our choice. Awesome job Veronica!
5/29/30- Today was our annual end of the year art club celebration and awards party. Everyone in art club received a medal for their participation in the club. It must always be remembered that the students that make up the art club are chosen for their outstanding ability and work. To be selected to the art club is an honor in itself. Like previous years, one student is chosen as the "Art Club Superstar" and this year it was Ariana Pupo-Rodriguez. She gave it her all and participated in almost every competition, show and contest. She won many prizes throughout the year and truly had an amazing streak of accomplishments. Congratulations Ariana! 5/16/24- Ariana continues her amazing year! She was invited to the Feeding South Florida Reception Dinner and Awards Ceremony where she was given 1st place in her division. It was a wonderful even for a great cause and even Ms Belinda Camba attended! Way to go Ariana Pupo-Rodriguez!
4/26/24-Ariana Pupo-Rodríguez received her recognition and reward at Miami-Dade College. There was lots of food and prizes and Ariana got to take her picture home in a beautiful frame. 4/19/24-Well Ariana has done it again! She is having a tremendous year. She has garnered 2nd place in the Amigos for Kids: No Excuse for Child Abuse Poster Contest. There will be an awards ceremony on April 26th at Miami Dade College West Campus. Congratulations to Ariana. 4/16/24- The Award Ceremony for the Ocean Bank Art Of Found Objects took place at Miami-Dade College's Hialeah Campus. Both Alice Nodarse and Evelyn Margesson were on hand to receive their award for winning the Grand Prize. It was a great night! 4/12/24- The Countywide Exhibit opening reception took place today. Here is Olivia Barrios in 2nd grade with her artwork. Great job! 4/12/24-Congratulations to Emily Rivero and Caitlyn Torres in Mrs. Romay's Class. Their work was accepted to the annual Museum Education Show. 4/11/24-Congratulations to Isabella Miranda and Ariana Pupo-Rodrguez in 4th grade, as well as Melany Espinosa in 5th Grade. All three had their work accepted to the Haitian Heritage Exhibition. Their work will be on display at the School Board Building. 4/4/24- Congratulations to Evelyn Margesson and Alice Nodarse in 6th and 7th grade. Their collaboration with "found objects" was accepted to the Ocean Bank Exhibit and Silent Auction. The reception is April 16th at 5:30 pm at Miami Dade College Hialeah Campus. UPDATE!! The picture entered has won the Grand Prize in the Middle School Category!! Awesome! 4/1/24- This year the Miami Marlins hosted the Opening Day Art Contest. Three of our students had their work on display and two of them were awarded prizes. Angie Abreu in 3rd grade had her work on view for the fans, as well as Ariana Pupo-Rodriguez, 4th grade and Melany Espinosa, 5th Grade. Melany was a runner-up and was award a signed baseball bat! Ariana was the grand prize winner and received a Marlins jersey with her name on it! It was a fantastic day! 4/1/24-Congratulations to Alice Nodarse in 7th grade, she has won the annual Youth Crime Watch poster contest for the 2nd time!! Wow, great job!
3/13/24- Mrs. Romay's 3rd Grade class got to go on a fieldtrip to the museums at the University of Miami on Wednesday. While there, students first go to visit the Kislak Collection comprising of artifacts, maps and other interesting historical items. After a fun lunch students got to tour the Lowe Art Museum and saw a variety of artwork, glasswork, and painting. 3/11/24- Congratulation to Carly Morales in 5th Grade. Her work was accepted to the "Dreamscapes" exhibit and will be on display to travelers at the MIA Gallery. 3/1/24- On Friday, fourth graders Isabella Miranda, Ariana Pupo-Rodriguez and 5th grader Veronica Moriyon were on hand at Denny's in Coral Gables to attend the annual Dental Association Poster Contest Awards Breakfast. It was a very awesome morning and our fabulous students received great prizes and had grand slam breakfasts. Even our wonderful Principal, Mrs. Riera attended, and she was very proud of our students. 3/1/24- Congratulations to 2nd grader Olivia Barrios and 3rd grader Bridget Barbosa, both had their artwork accepted to the Annual County wide Exhibit. This is a very prestigious show and Bridget had two pictures selected! The opening reception will be on April 12 from 6-8pm at the Bakehouse Art Complex.
